Polyresin modified heavy anti-corrosive paint has been widely used for the internal wall coating of oil and gas pipelines abroad. In the early 1990s, Renqiu, Shengli, Daqing and other oil fields successively introduced automatic pipeline spraying lines from the United States, Japan and Canada, and adopted oven curing and advanced automatic detection equipment, which achieved good results in pipeline prefabrication. However, the repair construction of field welding interface has not been completely solved, and its construction is strict and complex, with long construction period and high cost. These have become urgent issues for the internal and external anti-corrosion engineering of oil and gas pipelines, tubing and casing. The urgent task is to develop a variety of coatings with low investment, low energy consumption and cost, good coating quality and matching coating process suitable for each oil field.

The exploitation of natural gas containing sulfur, water and chlorine in brine is becoming more and more important in natural gas fields, especially when gas fields begin to enter the middle and later stages, and the drainage and gas exploration process has been promoted successively. The corrosion of such gas wells, oil and gas pipelines, and gas field water pipelines is quite serious. The brine transmission pipelines without inner wall corrosion protection are generally perforated and leaked within 1 to 2 years, It not only stops the pipeline production, but also causes great pollution to the environment.

In order to solve the serious corrosion and scaling in sour natural gas and brine transmission pipelines, many experience has been gained in the use of anti-corrosion measures, such as plastic FRP lining process, internal coating drag coating, cable coating, integral extrusion coating and other internal pipe treatment of steel pipelines, FRP brine transmission pipes, and wrapped FRP reinforced pipes. However, in the actual prefabrication and repair, the backward drag coating prefabrication and on-site weld junction repair method were used, resulting in poor uniformity of the paint film, missed coating, coating quality can not be guaranteed, and environmental pollution. In addition, epoxy resin paint (primer and finish) used for coating is slow to cure at room temperature, especially in winter when construction is difficult, and the curing dosage is difficult to accurately control, resulting in brittle paint film, poor flexibility of paint film, easy powder corrosion, poor flow and other shortcomings.

In order to update the coating process and improve the coating variety, Southwest Sichuan Mining Area Engineering Design and Research Institute and Zigong Lidalai Practical Chemical Research Institute jointly researched and developed a new high-pressure airless spraying process and the screening of new suitable coating varieties, and conducted field application tests from May 1995 to April 1997.
